Passive Fire Protection On LPG Vessels

In exterior applications for the petrochemical sector, fire endurance testing uses a higher temperature and faster heat rise, (the hydrocarbon curve) as it is based on burning oil and gas products which burn hotter and faster. 

Insulation and jacketing of electrical cables consist of e.g. PVC polyvinyl chloride, PE Polyethylene, PP Polypropylene and rubber. All these are combustible creating penetration for propagation of fire generated by electrical overload, short circuit or external sources e.g. molten and metal, especially when cables are laid in bundles. To prevent the fire spread the following protective coatings are recommended:

Tekrok C

Tekrok C is an advanced medium density fire protective plaster for the use in Chemical and Petrochemical industries. Tekrok C has been officially tested by the SABS in accordance with the hydrocarbon curve (Petrochemical) for 120 minutes fire protection. Tekrok C also comply with the NFPA58 specification for flammable gas storage vessels. Tekrok C is a very durable material that can be spray or hand applied to the substrate and is generally trowelled smooth and symmetrical. Tekrok C can withstand different weather conditions which makes it suitable for application on LPG storage vessels.

Tekrok TG

Tekrok TG is an advanced medium density fire protective plaster modified from Tekrok C through addition of chemical additives. Tekrok TG is used as a penetration seal in the Petrochemical and Chemical Industries. Tekrok TG is a very durable product and excellent for outdoor application. Tekrok TG has been tested by the SABS in accordance with Petrochemical standards as well as NFPA 58 providing a fire rating of up to 120 minutes.
